First of all, thank you so much for coming back to check on some of the chaos that goes on in my world. I know that towards the end here i sorta trailed off from posting and yet you still came back and checked anyways. Sorry about that... and i hope to make it up to you next year with twice or three times the number with a broader range of topics. I know that it actually had been mostly random tidbits that caught my eye, but i plan to get into more things that directly effect my life such as the goings on of being a parent-father. So stay tuned! Along with more of the random stuff mixed with some personal journal entries i hope that it gets you to come back and check out the chaos that is my Delirium every now and then.
Second of all, i want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! The hope that i hold for myself and my family in the new year is the same hope i have for you and yours, and that is simply good health, an endless bounty of happiness, and safe travels. There is so much that I'm so thankful for (feel very blessed really) looking back on 2008. It was absolutely a historically exciting crazy roller coaster year! Fortunately we came out of it relatively unscathed and we look forward to the good times and good things forthcoming.
Thanks again and see you next year!

OMG! More and more Cars! It's insane but i must have them!

I've been collecting different kinds of toys since my kids were born, but the one toy i've collected to this point...the one that i've gone from store to store during my lunch, always checked for in the toy aisle, willing to find on eBay, and/or call my sister in Texas to check her local stores are these little Hot Wheel looking diecast cars from the movie Cars. It's crazy i know but it's been fun and exciting at the same time! New cars keep coming out and there is no sign of letting up, Cars 2 is coming out in 2011...so the sky is the limit.

Sorry about being M.I.A from the Delirium
There has been so much going on since the last time i posted something new. I had been pretty tied up performing the duties of our fantasy football league's commissioner, i took the family to Orlando and Disney World for my cousin's wedding, and i've just been trying to contain medium sized fires that have been suddenly popping up. The fires aren't your touch it and get burned fires, rather the kind of problems and annoying 'just part of life' fires we deal with day in and day out. I described my fires as medium because they took some time to put out. Well, one of them isn't completely out yet as the case of the water leak from one of my pipes within my first floor bathroom ceiling and wall we discovered after we got back from vacation. Thankfully the plumber i got was able to fix the leak but not without having to tear out sections of my ceiling and wall first to get to it. It's been a week now and i'm still waiting on the drywall and paint guys to connect with me. They are guys that my HOA put in for since they are taking responsibility for the expense.
Anyhow... with all that has happened maybe the chaos (or delirium) is receding and now i can get back to more important fun stuff like blogging. Well, i guess you can say without the delirium that i go through there wouldn't be Del's Delirium, eh? Thanks for sticking with me and thanks for all your patience! Expect more postings in the next couple days to weeks.

Remember Jaime from the Real World San Diego?

You go girl! It's so cool to see good things happen to good people! Apparently she's had more than several small acting gigs in the last couple of years since Real World. Now her star is shooting way up with her role as Heaven in Samurai Girl, and the upcoming Summer release of Dragonball. She'll be playing Chi Chi.Before our trip the wife and I had a chance to catch the premiere of Samurai Girl on ABC Family. It was a mini series premiere event that was spread out over three days in two hour a day increments. Overall the series was good but not great. The setting was supposed to be in the San Francisco Bay Area but being a Bay Area resident it was obvious to me that it was filmed out in Vancouver B.C. There have been various movies and TV shows supposedly set in San Francisco over the years but because of local laws and ordinances Hollywood has used Vancouver as it's stand in. So, anyhow... the only gripe i have is not where it was filmed, rather the usefullness of some scenes. I felt that some scenes were not necessary and didn't add anything to the overall story. The story itself is OK and the acting is decent but it is still worth a gander. I actually hope it becomes a regular TV series. Jaime Chung is refreshing, beautiful, and an overall good girl. She's Asian too! And i love to see Asians break glass ceilings and breakout onto the American mainstream.

Thanks for the Golden Memories Beijing!

Four years can't come soon enough when you enjoy the Olympics this year like i have. One of the things that i wish i can old back though is 'Father Time'. Being four years older by the next time these games are back on our paper thin digi-screens in Hi-Def no less is sorta depressing. A lot can happen in four years like celebrating your 1st year wedding anniversary, moving into a new home, feeling excited in anticipation of the birth of your first child, etc. Some of us have heard the age old question, especially while interviewing for a new job, "Where do you see yourself in five years?" Well, as it relates to the Olympics "where does one see themselves in four?"
Thanks JaneAustenGirl23!

Here's the story: My wife, first and foremost out of the blue had a renewed liking for the song 'Incomplete' by the Backstreet Boys, which for me being the strong macho kinda guy that i am thought the song was plainly OK. So one day while we were driving into work and listening to the Backstreet tune for the ten thousand time i started really paying attention to the lyrics. It was then when a movie trailer or a certain kind of music video played through my mind about a period drama that my wife and I checked out several months earlier called North & South. I wasn't at all interested in watching it until my wife popped it in and for whatever reason it grabbed my attention. (Maybe because we only have one TV in the whole dang house i felt stuck!) Well, after 4 hrs spread over two discs I must say it was actually pretty good!
Well long story short i made a request of JaneAustenGirl23 that maybe this song by the Backstreet Boys might make a good soundtrack for a North & South video or trailer. JAG23 said that she would put it on her long list of potential YouTube projects and basically decide later. I was surprised when only month a later, which so happened to coincide with the movie's leading man's real life birthday and mine, she finally finished it and posted it! Wow! I even get a special mention! =) I thought that was very cool! Check it out!

This is an original song by AJ Rafael who is a very young talented musician/songwriter/singer.
* Check out AJ on YouTube here.
* You can also check out the original video of 'I Just Want You' here.
The YouTube cover video above is by Natalie 'Natz' the Flip a talented vlogger. A contest was recently held for the best cover to AJ's song and i thought that hers was the best! She didn't win but i think she came very close to winning. She was only about a thousand or so 'Views' behind the winner. Check out the winners and you be the judge. Don't get me wrong they were awesome too!

The man of the century!

Along with his 11 GOLD medals (and counting)... Michael has 2 BRONZE medals, a bunch of world records, and a dozen or more world championships! The scary thing is that he is just 23 years old. Do you think he might win more in London 2012?! Along with winning every world championship in between i think he can collect another half dozen medals in London and still be very competitive at age 31 in 2016. What an inspiration to all Americans and all the people of the world! Even the sky ain't no limit for this guy! Congratulations Michael!

Twilight: Edward & Bella "Always Be"
Okay this flick might actually be good! The movie is based on the Twilight books series by Stephanie Meyer where the lives of a mortal, Bella, and an immortal or more specifically a vampire by the name of Edward are intertwined in an unlikely romantic tale. Throw in the dangers of such a union and you have some real crackling and intense sparks. Hundreds of thousands even a million or so fans are forever locked in the craze, and can't wait for this movie which many may confess is 'to die for'. Awesome job JaneAustenGirl23.

Subliminal message?

If this isn't calling out to me then i don't know what is. I subscribe to Cirque Du Soleil's event notifications and this morning got this in my email inbox. I've been to three other shows before (Quidam, Mystere, and O) and i have always enjoyed them more than any other under the big top-circus type of show. I've also seen several other shows either on PBS or on some other cable channel, but it doesn't compare to actually being there in person. The euphoric experience just can't be attained through a little 27 inch tube with mono sound. Now if i had a home theater system then maybe, but i am a long way from having that. Delirium seems to be a movie like performance that lasts 1:45 hours, and has a very short run at a few select theaters August 20th through August 24th. The other funny thing about it is August 24th is my birthday! Check out the website here: http://www.thehotticket.net/delirium/

If you haven't already... then you have got to get this!
You all may have already heard about the Filipino born singer, Arnel Pineda taking over the Lead Vocal reigns of Journey, but i didn't... I found out from some co-workers while at lunch today. So, when we got back to the office instead of working i jumped on the Internet and began searching for videos of this guy on YouTube. What i found was absolutely mind blowing! He not only has a great voice, but he sounds just like Steve Perry! And to be discovered by one of Journey's founding members, Neil Schon on YouTube of all places! Wow! How could i have missed this wave?! No, not wave... tsunami? I've always liked many of Journey's songs growing up and now with Arnel as the frontman, he not only has resurrected a band, re-energized millions of dedicated Journey fans, but has also raised up a whole new following, and inspired millions of Filipinos around the world. It's such a feel good... on-going story that i'll be closely following from now until the band decides to hang'em up for good. In the meantime... don't stop believing! Enjoy 'Revelation' only at Walmart!

Disappointed about Michelle but Asian women dominate

AP Photo/Seth Perlman
I was so glad to hear that Michelle was doing so well at the LPGA State Farm Classic golf tournament in Springfield, Ill., when later i heard that she was DQ'd for not signing her score card. Wow! DQ'd over such a small technicality (the rules are the rules) and that cost her big. It simply sucks! I went on to read that Ji Young Oh from South Korea had won it and my thought was 'that's cool'. Then, i continued to see the final leaderboard of the tournament and my jaw basically fell out of my skull. The top 5 finishers in the tournament were all Asian (three Koreans and two Chinese), seven of the top 10 were Asian, and on and on... eleven of the top 25 were Asian. Eight of the top 25 were Korean. I don't follow golf very closely, especially womens golf, but i must say i was pretty damm impressed! My curiosity lead me to the linked articles below. Check it out and enjoy!

I'm Yours (Cover) by Chris Cendana
Here is a pretty mellow summer chill'n song made popular by Jason Mraz that caught my attention. I like following and hyping up the talents of my Asian brothers and sisters hence my reasons for posting this particular rendition. Oh no! I'm doomed!
McDonalds must have received wind of the two new toy collecting obsessions that i have for my kids. Uh yeah! It goes beyond the Happy Meal i'm afraid. When i was a kid i collected baseball cards, Hot Wheels, GI Joe and Star Wars figures. I even had some old school Transformer toys. I never had the means to complete any of my collections. Most times it wasn't about having enough money to buy them it was because they would fall victim to the rigorous and extreme play of yours truly. As an adult i sometimes wonder what ever became of the toys i had when i was a kid. Part of me wishes that i still had my small collection so that i could either pass them to my kid for safe keeping or for his playtime adventures. I try to let my little guy play with the toys i collect for him, but i do make every attempt to keep track of them all so that he doesn't lose them , forget about them, or completely destroy them. And yes! I do try to complete sets for him sometimes getting two of everything. I get one for him to play with and one to keep unopened as in the case with the little die cast Disney Cars i collect. The Littlest Pet Shop is the one and only thing i started for my little girl but i'm sure there will be more as she gets older.

Chestnut bests Kobayashi again!

I love Kobayashi but i have to also give it up for another legend in the making who happens to be from my end of the world. Joey Chestnut is not only from Northern California but also a student at my alma mater, San Jose State University. Here's another useless fact for most of you... he won his first eating contest in Stockton where the wifey is from. I've never been to the Asparagus Festival in Stockton but i believe ever since Chestnut won the Fried Asparagus Spear Eating Contest in 2005 he's won it every year since then and holds the current record of 8.6 lbs in 10 minutes which he broke this past year! Yikes! For those of you have eaten asparagus before damm that urine must have stayed green and smelly for months!

I wish i knew....
Two weeks ago we took the kids to see their first ever movie at the local Century theater cineplex. It was the summer hit "Kung Fu Panda" so you can imagine how excited Mini Me was to experience a cartoon movie on a screen a hundred times as big as our 27 inch tube. For the wife and I it had been close to five years since we saw a movie in a theater so we did anticipate a little bit of a price hike from then to now even for a matinee showing. So her i go... the attendant right away recognizes that there is four of us. She enthusiastically says "2 Adults and 2 Children"? I looked back at the wife and my little princess, who just turned one, then turned back to the attendant and in almost an impudent manner said "Uh no, actually 2 Adults, 1 Child, and an infant who is just a 1 yr. old". The attendant then says to me "Well sir we just changed the child age to all persons a year old to eleven in March". I gave her a sarcastic laugh, made some other harebrained comment, and paid the $31.50. I couldn't believe it! It was classic highway robbery! The choices in show times that day were a matter of 25 minutes or so from one theater to the other. Had we chose AMC Theaters instead my little girl would have been FREE! The Child price was the same as Century Theaters but the age limitation was from 2 yrs to 12 yrs old. Between now and next May when my baby girl turns two and the whole family has an opportunity to see another movie again....you can count on us going to AMC Theaters. That is if the pricing structure doesn't change to follow suit of it's rival Century. Blah!

Friendster

My first SN site was Friendster and after I moved away from it to the other heavyweights I occasionally wondered why other friends I knew on Friendster didn’t join the great migration. It was until I ran into several articles online did I start seeing the big picture much clearer.
Basically, it’s an ASIAN thing. Friendster is the #1 social networking in ASIA with the Philippines leading the way. Why? The reason is simply because Friendster was the first of it’s kind, and Filipinos are staying loyal to the first. Indonesia, Malaysia, US, and Singapore round out the Top 5 but the next big market that Friendster is already way ahead of the heavyweight competition in is China.

Reminiscing The Red Balloon
Watched the classic 'The Red Balloon' with my son over the weekend. I was taken back to my days in elementary school where I first saw this old 50's flick from a loud rickety film projector. Do those things still exist? I was still amazed by the special effects, color, and overall cinematography of that time just as much i was when i was a kid. Although, it did feel a bit longer than i last remember it, maybe because this time around the stalking balloon got a little old, the meaning of the movie remained the same for me . That meaning is that LIFE is full of miracles if you believe. Mini Me's attention was directly squared on the tube from beginning to end. Immediately after it was done he wanted to see the White Mare, the second of a double feature on the DVD. I had enough reminscing of films from my school days for one day, and directed him to i think the Cartoon Network instead.

Jesus Shuttlesworth aka Ray Allen
I'm torn when it comes to this year's NBA Finals. I'm a Sonics fan first and foremost through good times and bad, although don't expect me to be a fan if and when they go to OKC. I'm a West Coast kinda fan because i don't think the West Coast get's enough respect when it comes to sports. Lastly, back in the day when the Lakers and Celtics met in the Finals i preferred Magic over Bird. So, i'm pulling for the Lakers this year but also pulling for Ray because he's a good guy and a former Sonic. It's a wash i guess one can say, but if any kind of happy feelings surfaced for a champion it would most definately be because Ray's team won.
