My first SN site was Friendster and after I moved away from it to the other heavyweights I occasionally wondered why other friends I knew on Friendster didn’t join the great migration. It was until I ran into several articles online did I start seeing the big picture much clearer.
Basically, it’s an ASIAN thing. Friendster is the #1 social networking in ASIA with the Philippines leading the way. Why? The reason is simply because Friendster was the first of it’s kind, and Filipinos are staying loyal to the first. Indonesia, Malaysia, US, and Singapore round out the Top 5 but the next big market that Friendster is already way ahead of the heavyweight competition in is China.
